Who I Am Name: Ariana Leigh Thorn, or Red. Age: 18 Gender: Female Year: 7th, transfer from American Wizarding school. Bloodline: Muggle Born House/Position: Griyfindor Possibly a prefect or *cheesy grin* head Girl? Played By: Danneel Harris Appearance: Ariana has long, deep red/auburn hair, hence the nickname Red, that falls to the middle of her back. It looks more red in the sunlight than in the dark, but it can’t be doubted that it’s red. She was unfortunate enough to inherit the “Granger Hair Gene” and so it seems to have a mind of its own most days and she can’t really control whether it’s wild and curly, unless she enchants it so it is semi-tamed. That usually takes too long so she simply pulls it back into a low pony tail at the base of her neck or in a tight braid, the only time she wears it differently is during a special occasion or for bed when she wears it down. Her favorite hair accessory is a black scrunchy, which she will swear is more magic than anything found in Diagon Alley because it has yet to loose its elastic hold after 10 years.
Her eyes are almond shaped and a hazel/green color, a mix of her mother’s Granger Brown and her father’s bright green. The color of her eyes changes depending on her mood, they are darker when she is mad or deep in thought and lighter when she is happy. Her eyes often give her away when she is lying because they will lighten to a grey/blue depending on how much is the truth. Her eyes lashes are dark black and have the slight mascara look, even though she refuses to wear makeup.
Her lips are full, and she complains too full. They are a pale pink and she is extremely prone to chapped lips, though she is constantly applying Chapstick in order to fight it. Her face is round and fairly symmetrical, though her nose looks a bit turned up, probably due to a fall she took when she was young. Her skin is very soft and she has a faint tan that only lasts so long as she is willing to burn.
She is well built with a size 'd' chest, which, despite the remarks of envy from the girls, she swears is a curse. She usually retorts “at least you can be a gymnast, though in reality she is quote happy with her build. Having grown up with mostly guys for friends and not getting really close to any girls, she doesn't really flaunt her assets and does her best to hide them; usually with baggy shirts and sweaters. She has well defined muscles but doesn’t normally dress in clothing that shows them off. She is short, 5'3.5" even, though she'll tell you 5'4", and is constantly teased by her guy friends, who all tower over her by a foot at least. On her right wrist she has a tiny misshapen crescent moon shaped which she got when she tripped while hiking in the desert.
She isn’t a big fan of jewelry, but she does have a few items that she wears often. She has both of her ears pierced in the lobes, one in each, as well as the top of her right ear. She also has her belly button pierced, something she did as a bet with a guy friend who knows her fear of needles. Other than that she doesn’t wear anything more than her class ring from school, she attended a regular High School as well as a Wizarding school, and some dog tags from her grandfather on her Mothers side has during World War II. Personality: Ari screams 'Tom-Boy' in everything she does. Having hung out mainly with guys, and the fact her mother, thankfully, wasn’t exactly a Miss America wannabe, she really never got into the 'girl' mode. She is the epitome of 'jeans and t-shirt kind of girl' because that's all she wears if she can help it. She has a tendency to either forget, or ignore, how a girl is supposed to act when she is with people she is comfortable with. She will eagerly enter, and on rare occasion even win, a belching contest and willingly submits her own dirty jokes.
But that doesn’t mean she can’t act like a girl. She will, after a fight, wear a skirt and even apply makeup if she must, but don’t expect her to be happy about it. She is a pretty happy-go-lucky girl, though she does enjoy her solitude. Her father often jokes that without a days worth of social interaction she would wither and die.
With her guys she will shamelessly flirt with them, but that's all it is, flirting between friends. They often make jokes about her being a girl, to which she always retorts, "yer just jealous because I have boobs and I still kick yer ass." She has never had an actual crush on a guy before, and actually is a virginal as it gets, she’s been on a few dates, though she isn’t sure if a shooting range with 7 guys counts as a date, but she still prefers her first real date, muddin’ with Caleb in his dad’s truck.
She loves to be loud with the guys and made it a point not to miss a football game in her life. She's never been a cheer leader and actually played on the Youth Football team until she turned 13 and the coaches decided maybe a girl on the team wasn’t such a good idea. Despite being kicked off the team she still helped out in practice and even played as water girl so she could cheer from the sidelines.
Ari has a very motherly side about her because she feels like she has to keep 'her boys' in line. She won’t go so far as to hound them about homework, though Merlin knows they need it, but she will play voice of reason and peace maker when it’s needed. She ensures that their work gets done, even if she has to sit them down and walk them through it. She could have been called the ring leader of her group, but that’s simply because the guys didn’t do much without her. She has a near perfect memory and she can tell you the names of everyone in her home town and what generation they are in it.
When she isn't with her guy friends she is very different, she tends to be fairly introverted and quiet when alone. She loves to read and has a collection of over 200 different books that she has read 3 times at least. She also dances, not exceptionally well mind you, but singing and acting are her secret passion. She hasn't let anyone, other than her brothers and Caleb hear her really sing because the guys wouldn't really understand what it’s about. When around the guys she'll sing along with them, but it’s usually out of key and she won’t really put her heart into like she does when she’s alone. Her friends know she likes to act, but they don't know how serious she is about it, they only see her goofy little skits and can’t see that it means so much to her. All of them know about her writing passion, it’s not a secret really, but none of them read anything she writes unless she’s written something for them.
Since she found out she was being transferred to Hogwarts she hasn’t exactly been her usual self, she’s reverted to the Bookworm Ari that usually surfaces when she’s alone, her usual defense when she isn’t in a place she’s entirely comfortable with. There are rare moments when she’s just like her usual self, but that’s normally when she has been talking to Caleb or her family. Wand: Unicorn Hair/Dragons Blood, Rowan 7.5 inches Other Magical Devices: Two Way Mirror(A present from Caleb) Pet: A female black cat with a crooked tail, Yoda. A male Rottweiler Mix named Radar. (Hagrid is kind enough to care for him) History: Ariana was born to Justin Thorn and Airin Thorn, nee Granger. She was their third child, born two years after her brothers, twins, Matt and Charlie. Her parents were well aware of the Wizarding world, they had kept in close touch with their cousin, Hermione Weasley, nee Granger, but they had never imagined that they would give birth to a muggle born Witch. Needless to say there were not prepared for the first signs.
Ari grew up a relatively normal girl, ignoring the fact she wound up just as muddy as the boys in her town and usually came home with blood on her, both hers and some boys that she fought with. She wasn’t exactly the most girly girl when she was young; she even went so far as to staple a skirt she had together down the middle to make shorts because her mother said she couldn’t climb trees in a skirt. Other than that she was a very normal child. Or at least she was until she turned ten.
On her tenth birthday she was at Celebs ranch with him and they were playing in the field, the local bully came over and her started to pick on Ari. Caleb got mad and he hit the bully, who then proceeded to punch Caleb. Ari got very mad and she screamed at the boy to stop, and he did. The boy ended up flying off Caleb and landing a few feet away on his back. He ran away crying, thinking Ari had hit him. Ari then went to Caleb and, without saying a word, stopped his nose from bleeding. Ari’s and Caleb’s parents had shown up at that point, having heard the scream and turned just as the bully was getting up. They were astonished to see the previously gushing nose to suddenly stop and a bloody Caleb grinning and asking his friend how she made the other boy fly. Hermione was contacted that day and she was asked if the event meant what they thought it did.
A week later Ari was visited by a large man who she became quick friends with, dispite her young age. The man was Rubeus Hagrid. He shared her love of animals and he explained to her and her parents, as well as a young Caleb who was hiding, poorly, behind the couch, that Ariana was a Witch. They all expected a stunned or maybe even disbelieving reaction from the girl, but instead she jumped up and grinned like a food, telling Caleb he better be nice or she’d turn him into a frog, to which he jumped up and told her he didn’t want to look like her. After the commotion had finally died down, after a split lip given to Ari and a bloody nose to Caleb, Hagrid explained what she would need and how she would get her schooling. He was surprised when she asked if she could still go to a regular school and he spoke to the American Ministry about optional Schooling methods for the girl, homeschooling in a sense. The family was informed of a small school in the town over where Ari could do after school and weekend schooling if she wished, the only catch was she would have to give up the breaks she got from Muggle School and use them for her other schooling. She agreed and managed to keep up with both schools when she was finally enrolled in “The Redwood School for Wizards and Witches,” of course having some help before she could legally learn did help. The week before she was visited by a reclusive wand maker, a seer, who had "seen" her wand, a 7.5 inch Rowan wand with a Unicorn Hair center, the wood soaked in Dragons Blood.
She managed to balance her muggle schooling and wizard schooling fairly well, it got easier her Junior and Senior years due to free class periods and optional classes. She also managed to graduate a year early with Caleb in order to get the proper training her final year of Wizarding training. It was suggested that she transfer to a proper school, and she was a little apprehensive about leaving her parents alone. In the end it was Caleb who convinced her, telling her that she needed to learn properly if she wanted to do everything she planned. He gave her a set of two way mirrors he had talked Hagrid into getting him, figuring she could keep in touch with her parents. They were old looking things, almost gothic looking and there was a small crack in one of the corners, but she loved them anyway. She gave him the uncracked one, making him promise to talk to her everyday. The next day she was heading off to Platform 9 ¾ via Portkey. She was to report to the headmaster before the feast in order to be sorted into her house.

O.o Is there not a 'read' somewhere? *Goes to comb through the rules*
Anyways! All's good, and I'm fine with silent magic, but wandless magic is an advanced ability that only experienced wizards have, at least accord to the books, lol. So I'd rather her not have that ability, but the silent magic is fine =) Other than that, everything is great.

Alrighty. *salutes* I just thought it'd match up because she did it when she was younger, but that's fine. Silent Magic works for meh.
Any clue when they would be able to learn wandless magic?

You know, I was looking up some info on it, and what I found is that silent magic is actually something their taught at Hogwarts, and wandless magic was actually hinted at in the books and used by some of the more powerful Wizards, ie Dumbledore and Voldemort, and is the kind of magic House Elves and such use. So I'm thinking it's something that needs to be learned and practiced and such through experience.

Alright. Is it alright if I say she's learning it and can do basic spells, like Accio, but it doesn't always work?

Lol, don't worry about it. I appreciate it actually. Lot better than the people who get all defensive and try to argue about it ._. I've seen some pretty bad cases of that, XD.

Oh my geesh. I hate dealing with people like that, though sadly I have been known to get upset sometimes. But to be honest the few times I did it the Admin was an idiot who approved when someone else had something similar, and the other time the Admin just honestly didn't like me. Heh.
