Suppose things had been different. Suppose the famous prophecy made between The Dark Lord and Harry Potter had never been. Suppose Dumbledore had never died. Suppose that the war was stopped even before it began. Let me ask you this: can alternative universes escape their ultimate fate because of their original beginnings?
Sixteen years ago, Lord Voldemort was the most powerful wizard that the world had ever seen. Yet he was evil. Using his skills to dominate and control society through fear seemed to be just the beginning of what this murderer could do. The Order of the Phoenix, a secret organization devoted to bringing this wizard to justice, was working around the clock and getting closer to what seemed like the answer to take Lord Voldemort down. The wizarding world lived in a state of fear, where good rarely shined and the future was shrouded with darkness.
What happened next took everyone by surprise. The Dark Lord was informed by his closest Death Eater that she was pregnant, with his child. Soon after, he put down his wand and surrendered to society. He pleaded that he had been blinded by the powers of magic and this little girl that would come into the world had shown him the way out. He could not, however, just be let off the hook. Too many lives had been lost, too many hopes had been destroyed. Tom Riddle, as he now went by, denounced all of his former Death Eaters and willingly was shipped off to Azkaban to serve his sentence. Most people had believed his sudden change of heart for a reason they couldn't quite formulate. The wizarding world took one collective relieved sigh and got back to work rebuilding their society. Peace and prosperity were back and it seemed as though they were free from any harm. There were still skeptics though. People that found it hard to believe the sudden change that had come from just a small child. Especially when he had killed so many before.
The present is the sixth year for Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. They are still considered 'the trio' at Hogwarts but not because they fight evil together, they are merely inseparable friends. However, they are not the only ones attending Hogwarts. Tom Riddle's daughter is now in her sixth year as well and is used to the constant torment that her surname lends to.
Soon all that peace and quiet will be once again disturbed. To the dislike of many people, Tom Riddle is expected to be released from prison in the coming months and the world is holding their breaths to see what this will bring. A changed man or disaster?
